    K.Y. Lin, P. Shaw

Action items:

1.      Derek/C.T./ Warwick/Jeff    Derek will arrange a phone meeting for correlator team to go over the correlator specification and IF input interface shortly.

2.      Bob/Philippe/                       Bob and Philippe will follow up to finish the contents of bidding package for platform ASAP.

3.      C.J. Ma/                                As to the coupling test for prototype at lab, C. J. will come up with a plan and send to Bob to review shortly.

4.      C.T. /                                   C.T. has found a mechanical engineer to do some mechanical design for our final correlator system, including housings, racks, and enclosure. C.T. will work out a quote shortly.

5.      Bob/                                     Bob will keep on trying to arrange a phone meeting with JPL people to discuss the collaboration on AMiBA.

6.      Mngtang/                             As to electrical enclosures, in the long run , we want to keep all the power supply above platform. Should we do the same thing we set up for prototype instrument; using one enclosure to keep all the power supply away from other stuff? Mingtang will think about what is the best solution to go with and get response to Bob in a couple of days.

7.      Bob/Mingtang/                   Prototype will be ready to shipped to Hilo by mid-Aug, Bob and Mingtang will follow up to sort out a quickest way to ship it to Mauna Loa ASAP.

8.      Bob/                                    Bob will come up with a prototype test plan in details about who is going to do what and when ASAP.

9.      C.J.Ma/                               C.J. will follow up with Ted and Philippe to see how to proceed to order the motor for prototype mount.

10.  Bob/                                  As for the 60cm dish, Bob will follow up to track down the status of Dr. Ong.

11.  C.T.                                  As to the delay trimming for Correlator IF Signals, C.T. will run a full set of S-parameter tests on the blue PV-18 devices in a couple of days.

Summary

Correlator:

1.      Derek updated the specifications based on his discussion with J. Peterson on Monday and comments from Warwick and Chao-Te. He has circulated it around for correlator team to review as well.

2.      Derek proposed a approach of using the Triangle/KDI PV-18 phase trimmers for equalizing delays to the correlator.? $7800 USD for 7-element system, $15,600 for 13-element system. This is not a cheap approach. He will look around for some other trimmer options which may be less expensive.? ?

Antenna calculations:

Mike have spoken to his colleague about the beam pattern calculation for 60cm dish. They think that it will take about a week to dust off the software, enter the new data, do the calculations and draw up a report. Christophe would probably not be able to get to it until late August.

Site:

1.      We have installed the prototype mount on the pad at Mauna Loa. Ted, Ta-Shun, Peter Oshiro, Ferdinand and Bob managed to do this in a day. We will be ready for optical telescope pointing by the end of the week. We have the chiller on site and one of the electrical enclosures. The 2nd will go up tomorrow. We still have to mount those enclosures in place. Please take a look at the pictures of prototype mount on site at web site as below.

2.      C.J. Ma and K.Y. Lin is going to Mauna Loa to set up the pointing optical telescope and to do some tests next week.

Next telecon: Thursday, Aug. at 8:30AM Taipei time.
