Action items:

1.          Bob/Huei/Paul:      Bob, Huei and Paul will have a meeting offline this afternoon 4PM to discuss the collaboration issue of JPL with AMiBA science team. We need to sort out what we really want.

2.          C.T./Derek/             As for the biased or non-biased mixer approach for 4 lag correlator, CT. and Derek will project what’s needed for the decision and when we can address this issue.

3.          Bob/Paul/                 Bob and Paul will discuss offline to sort out the cost impact from 7-13-19 elements.

4.          Mingtang/               Mingtang will think about the layout and the location how to hook up the cabling, electrical box of receiver, LO and IF on the platform.

5.          Ted/Mingtang/West  Ted, Mingtang and west will figure out the total weight of receiver, IF and LO which put on platform.

6.          Mingtnag/                  Mingtang will talk to Mike to see whether AT can provide us the software program of modeling simulation for different size of dishes.

7.          Bob/                        Bob will talk to Frank Chen – the computer engineer here to see what he can support on the T1 network construction on site.

Summary

MMIC:

The paper work for ordering 28 LNA from JPL is straight forward at RCUH office.

Receiver:

Mingtang updated -

1.      RX-1 was warmed up for service.  Fixed some vacuum leaks in the bottom plate. It is been cooled down on Wed.

2.      Continue stability test on single receiver (RX-2).  To summarize this test, we have found a problem component in the RF chain. The output from the post-LNA (Spacek) depends greatly on room temperature. There is about 0.2 dB power DROP per 0.1% room temperature INCREASE.  It is not sure how it is going to affect the correlator out put. We will start the correlation test next week.

3.      Several electronics task have been carried on, including change of the back boards, re-arrange the ground cables, and digital read-out, etc.

LO/IF:

Prof. Chu is still working on the new design for equalizer.

Correlator:

1.      As for determining the actual weight of the Correlator System, Derek has generated an actual packaging concept for the hardware. For details, please read it on web site.

2.      Due to the cost of Celeritek’s amplifier is less than Miteq’s amplifier, we decided to order 44 amplifiers from Celeritek. This will save cost $15,796USD. Delivery time is in Nov.

3.      Derek got a quote from J. Rapadas for a customer 4 way power divider, he will discuss with C.T. all about by offline. The option is to do it by ourselves.

4.      We decided to order 45 units of Triquint TGA-8300 through RUCH, $70 for each, it’s the lowest quote we got.

5.      C.T. is still working on the output measurement; he will discuss the details with Derek and Warwick later on by offline.

60cm dish:

Ted and Philippe yesterday in Taichung with C.L. Ong and his engineering team to discuss the fabrication and assembly of the 60 cm dishes by ALTIN. Bob was partly on the phone with us from Taipei. 3 months delivery for making the tooling and the first 2 dishes. Philippe concluded that ALTIN is a good candidate to fabricate our reflectors and collaboration with the engineering team as well as CL Ong very easy.

Platform:

There will be a phone meeting with Vertex to go over the specification this afternoon.

Next telecon: Thursday, July 25, 8:30AM Taipei time.
