Summary

Receiver:

1.      Both receiver have been cooled down, and the noise temperature of the second one is still higher than expected. Warwick & Jeff gave Mingtang some suggestions to sort out the source of noise. Mingtang and C.T. will follow up to do more measurements.

2.      Prof. Chiueh suggested using analogue demodulator instead of  doing demodulation inside the correlator backend processing chips. Warwick said it is something we can try right now. Warwick need to talk to C.T. closely to tell him what exactly have to be done.

LO/IF:

Prof. Chu and students completed two equalizers and fitted one of them into the LO and tested, they will finish the second one in a week or so. They will replace the mechanical phase switch in LO when the new switch arrived.

Correlator:

1.      Derek has received the sample amplifier die and test fixture from Triquint Semiconductors and sent off to Taipei. We need to return the test fixture within 3 weeks, since it's pretty expensive so we should be careful with it.

2.      Derek will order 5 high pass filters for prototype receiver testing.

3.      As per Bob's request, Derek placed an order for the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the T1 network on Mauna Loa.

4.      Derek is planning to place PO for some of first section of hardware and connect rise part, including 10db direction coupler ,  4 way power divider. He will order 16 each, total price is about 16K.

5.      Derek generated a  Mechanical Sketches of Correlator System and circulated to everyone for comment.

6.      J. Rapadas is waiting for print circuit and diodes still, Jeff updated.

Mount:

Philippe will visit Vertex by June 17.

Ted has finished the design of interface plate for prototype mount, he will place PO to the local vender in Hilo.

He is aiming to install the prototype on site by end June.

Platform:

Philippe and Ted are still working on the design, they have a meeting with ARL to discuss engineering detail.

Philippe is aiming to finish the package for RFQ in two weeks. He will discuss its interface with Vertex as well.

60cm dish:

Jeff circulated the quote and specs of Mliflect to everyone to read and comment.

Now we have three quotes in our hands, and still need to know the FEA result of Miliflect dish.

Philipe need one week more to finish the study.

Site:

Derek spoke to Darryl, system admin of ML, and we talked about the T1 line installation from verizon.  Verizon is up there right now performing the installation (Jun-5).  The T1 equipment will reside within their computer room facility.  All equipment is of 19" rack mount variety.  According to Darryl, the equipment will consist of a T1 modem (he called it something else), firewall box, router box, CSU box, and finally a switch.

Action items:

Derek/Pilippe      Derek and Philippe will discuss the interface between correlator and platform offline shortly.

Mike/                Mike will sort out the technical details of motor for prototype mount and send to Philippe and Ted for interface design.

Philippe/             Philippe will start FEA studying on the Miliflect dish today.

Next meeting:     Thursday, June 13, 9:30AM Taipei time.
