Summary

Receiver:

1.      Noise temperature is still high, Mingtang and Eugene are doing some works to try to find out where is the extra noise temperature came from. They had simplified the configuration in the front-end, and got 150K ~ 200K over the band. And now they try to get back to the original design just for comparison. So far is we can get a reasonable noise temperature with the solo configuration, Mingtang concluded. They are also working on various parts in the receiver with Lo, IF and electronics,  trying very hard to get both receives ready to meet the dead line of May 6.

2.      We decided to buy 12 OMT from NRAO, total cost is $71,606. Paul will follow up to get the order in place.

3.      As for the IF, we had two channels already, and will make another two next week.

Correlator:

1.      Warwick is just putting the finish touch up on the prototype, and hopes to send off early next week from AT to Taipei.

2.      Derek helps to order 5 low pass filter through RCUH since the price we got from local agent here is quite high. He hopes to carry LPF with him to Taipei by May 6.

3.      Derek talked with J. Rapadas about the clarification for him to understand the work we attend him to do for us and the details about the mechanical and so on. He also spoke to Marki Microwave about they try to get a mixer that has higher responsivity for us, they will make some tests on the mixers they have.

MMIC:

1.      As for the InP HEMT layout, Huei had some email correspondences with TRW, but haven't pinned down yet. He will keep on pushing out the final layout.

2.      Todd Gaier told Huei that the approval process in JPL for selling 28 LNA to us will be through in a few days, Bob will follow up on this with Todd tomorrow.

3.      As for sending some people from here to JPL to take part in the packaging and cold test for LNA , Huei suggest to nominate three people to JPL for approval. For details, Huei will sort out the candidates with Mingtang offline.

60cm dish:

1.      Still waiting for the modeling studying result from Philippe.

2.      Ted sent out the modified drawing to Philippe and Bob for comment.

Far field range measurement:

C.J. received the mounting stuff from the vender and start setting up the instrument together.

Mount:

Purchase agreement has been signed by Fred and will be sent out to Vertex tomorrow.

Bob and Philippe will join the kick-off meeting with Vertex next Monday and Tuesday in Germany.

The current expect time in contract is 14 months, and we are trying to push them to shorten it.

Platform:

Ted modified the layout according the concept sketch prepared by Bob.

Correlator back-end chips:

Warwick received 20 chips from Tzi-Da, but he found something wrong with those chips.

Action items:

1.      Huei/Warwick/        Huei plans to send a paper relative to the InP HEMT w-band LNA the up coming Asia Pacific Microwave Conference, he will send a copy to Warwick and Russell to look. (As per Huei's request, AT put Huei's design together with their own on AT mask and test there.) Warwick will follow up to check this with Russell.

2.      C.T./Huei/Derek     According the discussion with Huei about the specification of IF amplifiers, C.T. will come up with a  work package including detail block diagram, power budget , so that Huei can follow up to design. C.T. and Derek will also make a trade off study between self made and buy.

3.      Bob/Philippe         Bob and Philippe will review the modified drawing of the 60 cm dish and get back to Ted , Mingtang and Paul ASAP.

4.      Bob/Ted/               Bob will review the layout prepared by Ted and put together more stuff together and send around to Ted and Philippe by tomorrow.

5.      Bob/                       Bob will get the firm quotes in Tucson for the optical telescope and send around to everyone to look tomorrow.

6.      Bob/Ted/              Bob will send the model of prototype and layout of optical telescope to Ted, so the Ted can follow up to figure out where to put on the optical telescope.

7.      Derek/                  As for the far field range measurement for prototype on site, Derek will check Hilo people again to see what kind of transmitter they have.

8.      Tzi-Da/                 As for the for the prototype lab test in May 6 at Taipei, Tzi-Da will prepare some additional correlator back-end chips of the old version, so that Warwick can replace the damaged one when he is here.

9.      Bob/Paul/          Since the MoE will take the annual site visit to AMiBA/CosPA in May 28, we need to think about whether we need to put off the shipment for prototype to Hilo. Bob will discuss this further with Paul offline.

Next meeting: Thursday, April 25, 8:30AM Taipei time.
