Summary

30cm dish:

The second one had been shipped and arrived here.

Far field range measurement:

We received the micro wave component from Jeff yesterday, and the two PhD students C.J. Ma & K.Y. Lin start setting up the tooling for measurement. They had some questions on the specification about how to use the power supply, and they have sent a email to Jeff to ask.

Platform:

Mingtang will follow up to arrange a meeting with Dr. Ong for Bob, Philippe, Ted and Paul to discuss about the design concept and the possibility to make the platform in local.

Hexapod mount:

Bob will follow up to summarize our comments on Vertex's technical documents and send to them shortly.

Correlator:

1.      Derek received a DC biased mixer from Marki and sent to Warwick as well. Warwick will follow up to test it, and we hope the "biased single-balanced mixer" provides an acceptable solution.

2.      Derek received a quote of 4 element corrwelator from Rapadas and circulated around. Any comment, please feed back to Derek.

3.      Derek and C.T. put together the IF distribution RF power profile, both Mingtang and C.T. comment on that and Derek incorporated them in the profile. We also got some comments on the specification documents, Derek incorporated those comments in the specification. So Derek will resent the modified specs to venders for quote, the major one is a kind of packaging issue.

4.      We need to add more than 50 power amplifiers to correlators for 7 elements telescope, it will be a huge cost for us.

C.T. asked Huei if he can help on that. Heui thinks it is possible for him to design the amplifier but we need to find somebody else to do it, and he need specification and time to design it.

MMIC:

1.      Huei has sent the InP MT chip design to TRW on Monday, and TRW confirmed they received it as well. TRW may need one month to get the checking process through.

2.      Todd confirmed that JPL administration is preparing the quote for 28 LNA.

Receiver:

The cold testing is ongoing for the first receiver unit . The power loss is higher than we expected, Mingtang and Eugene are checking on that.

Work plan 2002:

We had two separate meetings offline after the engineering telecon to go over the work plan 2002. So far we got some input from Huei for MMIC, Tzi-da for Correlator backend processing IC, C.T. for Correlator, Honming for Computing software and Philippe for mount, platform and dish. And there are still some missing for receiver, Lo and IF.

Action Items:

1.          Derek/      As for platform design, Derek will estimate the weight of the 4 element correlator prototype and give to Bob and Philippe ASAP.

2.          Paul/        Paul will forward Andy Harris' report on the Gilbert-cell multiplier system to Huei, Huei will read and see if he can use this design or modify it for our IF amplifier needs.

3.          Derek/C.T.    Derek and C.T. will come up a specification for IF amplifier and power divider, and then send to Huei ASAP. Hui, Tzi-da, Derek and C.T. will discuss offline about the possibility to combine amplifier and power divider together.

4.          Bob/          As for purchasing amplifiers from JPL, Bob will follow up to check the status with Todd Gaier.

5.          Paul/        Paul will set up a meeting for Fred, Huei and Mingtang to sort out the details of sending people and students to JPL to work on the packaging and cold testing for 28 LNA.

Next meeting:    Thursday, April 4, 8:30AM Taipei time.
