Summary:

Prototype mount:

Mount will be shipped to Hilo by flight shortly, Bob will check it when arrived.

Vertex mount:

As per our request, Vertex modified the document of performance specs and scope of work, and sent it to us to review.

MMIC:

  1. Warwick said that Joan Archer feel it is difficult to share InP HEMT model of AT with us, but Warwick will try pumping to make his mind up.
  2. We are welcomed AT to share our new mask for their design, Wawwick will talk this with Russell.
  3. TRW will send the non-linear model to Bob shortly, Bob will forward to Huei once he got it. Huei and his students will try their best to finish the chip design by end-Feb.
  4. Huei will go ahead to arrange a phone meeting with Charles Lawrence, Todd Gaier, Fred, Bob after Chinese New Year holiday to discuss JPL /ASIAA collaboration.

Correlator:

Warwick and C.T. Li fished the phase & amplitude measurement on the Meridian microwave lag correlator, and circulate a interim report around.  Its phase errors is about 90 degree, and quite a dispersion in the delay up to 18GHz, it's not a flat response. There are quite a lot of variation down low frequency below 4GHz, it might be a indication of a general bad natural mixer. The amplitude response is about 60db cross the band, and the linearity is much as Jeff suggested at -10dBm, it seems the max power level input the correlator which we want to operate. They will continue on measuring the correlator. Jeff will provide the material information of delay line to Warwick, it might help to find out the reason of dispersion in delay.

Receiver:

The power coming out from dewar after receiver is too low , Mingtang hopes to work out this problem and finish all tests by end Feb. 30cm dish has been fixed to the receiver without problem.

30cm dish:

Further measurement on the second dish in Tucson is still on going.

Site & Lab:

Still work on the leasing agreements with CSO & MLO.

Optical telescope:

No comment on the specification prepared by Mike, the next step is to get the quotes from vendors.

Action items:

  1. Bob/     Bob will check the prototype mount when arrived Hilo, and arrange a place to store it.
  2. Bob/Philippe/Mike/Jeff/Mingtang
People should go over the revised document from Vertex and send comment around by email before mid Friday. And then Bob will put all comments together and send to Vertex. We have to insist on with Vertext, they have to deliver something we are able to use.
  3. Huei/    Huei will go ahead to arrange a phone meeting with Charles Lawrence, Todd Gaier, Fred, Bob after Chinese New Year holiday to discuss JPL /ASIAA collaboration.
  4. Bob/     TRW will send the non-linear model to Bob shortly, Bob will forward to Huei once he got it.
  5. Jeff/     Jeff will provide the material information of delay line to Warwick, it might help Warwick to find out the reason of dispersion in delay.
  6. Paul/    Paul will organize a face to face meeting from March 4 to 6 at Taipei to discuss those crucial issues in details of correlator and prototype test.
  7. All/      Please draft out the work plan 2002 for each work package and send to Paul before end Feb so that we could go over them together at the coming face to face meeting at Taipei,  which including technical , time schedule and budget.

Next meeting: Thursday, 21, Feb at 8:30AM Taipei time.
