Summary

Correlator:

We had an separate telecon earlier today r with Andrew Harris, John Payne, D. Emerson, Warwick, Derek Kubo and chaired by Fred. The major discussions are: We are waiting for the modules which Rapadas should ship to AT for Warwick testing. The next step we should do is to update the overall layout for the final correlator. Derek Kubo agrees to take on the task of conceptual layout overall design and work with Warwick and other people. We need to figure out first of all how to connect all lag correlators together to connect the antennas internally. And then base on that scheme to look into how to integrate the lag correlators into module and how to implement it.

Prototype mount:

We got a quote from VIOLA through Philippe, price is $6,850Euro, delivery by end-Jan. Philippe is working on the technical details with VIOLA, Paul will follow up to get the purchasing process through.

MMIC

Huei got the model and technical document from TRW, Huei & his students will start working on InP HEMT chip design right after extract the data from the model. And then, they needs 1.5 months to complete the chip design. So end - Feb is the aim to send out the design to TRW. TRW needs 3 months to go through with the wafer run, it's means we probably get wafer back in June 2002.

LO/IF:

Prof.Chu confirmed to Mingtang that all IF and Lo modules will be completed and send to Mingtang by end-Dec.

Receivers:

Chamber assembly almost completed, and now start cold testing, vacuum test and so on. Mingtang tries to establish the test procedures. He is aiming to get the cold test by early January. As for the IF parts, he is working on the room temperature measurement

Site:

Bob has generated a draft agreement for site leasing at Mauna Loa, Paul & Fred will read it and get back to Bob shortly. Bob mentioned that NOAA volunteer help us to prepare the engineering plans for the development of the site.

Small dishes:
Bob hopes CMA can fix up the miss-alignment of the secondary mirror by 9, Jan

Action items

  1. Bob/  Bob will get together with Mike to discuss what we reality need about the ground shield at site.
  2. Mike/   Mike will collect the catalogue of optical telescope for prototype and forward to us.
  3. Bob/   Mike and Bob will get together to see whether they can find an optical telescope available in AT and Tucson, so that we could borrow it for prototype.
  4. Mingtang/   Mingtang will update the layout of receiver and its interface with dishes, and then send to Bob.
  5. Mingtang/   Mingtang will think about where should we ship the small dishes to? Taipei or Hilo ? Two small dishes should be ready for shipment by mid-Jan. He will get back to Bob ASAP.

Next meeting date/time: Thursday, 3, Jan. at 8:30AM Taipei time
