Summary
Correlator:
Jeff has spent two days in LA to test two mixers array and power divider
itself, both of them are promising, they don't have time to test the delay
line section. He thinks no problem to get all components work, but the critical
point is to get all pieces work together as required. Within two weeks time,
they will finish the complete unit, and send it to Jeff to do the thorough
test. If it works, we need to order 4 more units for cross polarization experiments.
Some options if it's not work:
1. frequency split system like CBI uses;
2. Warwick's narrow band width lag correlator after frequency splitting, but
that will be a real big job. We need to discuss further more after we got
a definite sense about the whole thing works or not by mid-Nov.
As to the read-out chip, Warwick will add an external analogue de-modulator
to Prof. Chiueh's chip. And this chip will not do the de-modulation, but only
doing the data acquisition. So we may don't to use the discrete version. Meanwhile,
Prof. Chiueh will revise chip design according the test result at AT, and
have a wafer run at CIC in Dec.
Receiver:
Receiver team is working very hard on the receiver chamber and OMT,
they had some technical problem, but all get resolved now.
SiGi:
Warwick has signed a dis-closure agreement and sent back
to the company in Germany, he haven't gotten the module from them. He hopes
to get some chips back early next year.
Protorype
mount:
Philippe made a new model, that's much lighter than before,
weight is about 180kg. He will do further analysis on the platform in another
angle as well. He will fax the new model as well as the analysis data to Mike
to review
