Summary

Noise source calibration:
Mingtang and Mal had a offline discussion on the noise source calibration, they agree to use the wave guide split version for prototype, Eugene will follow up to develop.

MMIC:
Bob has answered the TRW Sales Questionnaires and sent back to TRW as well. Huei suggests If everything goes right then we should ask them to start preparing the model for design ASAP.

Site:
Bob mentioned there are two places he has seen, one is close to the camp of MLO, and the other is twice as far as to the observatory, away from the building to the east, and both have crude roads going to there. He will follow up to figure out the location with MLO people.

7 arrays simulation:
Mike, Ravi and Bob are still working on the simulation to the CMB polarization experiments with 7 arrays.

16 elements lag correlator:
Jeff says all the design work is completed, and all parts should be coming in a week. He will spend a couple of days there with Jeff to test the components on next Friday and Saturday.

SiGe:
Warwick says it is proceeding in agree with the Germany company, and we need a little bit work on the model to fit in the design system we use, and they are interested in that work, so they can use for their test, and will give us discount. We hope perhaps not have to pay some up front cost. Paul Robert starts working on the model.

Prototype mount:
Philippe just starts making the first model, and so far the weight is too much, he will keep on modifying the model and select lighter components. Fred says we do want a mount to do what we all need to do, but clearly the simple the better. Mike and Philippe will follow that direction to design the mount. Philippe will send some information to Mike later today by fax.

Dishes:
Bob took the delivery of two small dishes, and they look good. He try to arrange the mechanical measurement on those dishes sometime in next week. He hopes to get a quotation and then place P.O. shortly.

Action items

  1. Bob/Mike    Mike will continue to track on the price of ATNF for near field range measurement, Bob will follow up to take care of this issue.
  2. Bob/    Bob will contact Joyce /TRW administration to find out whether they can keep the Dec. schedule for the 1st. wafer run.
  3. Mike/    Mike will send the interface card to Homing in a couple of weeks.
  4. Warwick/    Warwick will make a decision on the read-out chips sometime next week.
  5. Fred/Huei    Fred and Huei will discuss offline on the packaging and testing for InP HEMT LNA.
  6. Bob/    Bob will follow up to work out the rental agreement for Lab & office with CSO people.
  7. Everyone/    Fred asks everyone to take a look at the prototype schedule, prototype test plan & test schedule. We also need to start talking about the assembly, testing, operation, man-power needed and so on, so we have more concrete idea what needed.
  8. Paul/    Paul will resend the pert chart of MS 98 Project version to Mike, Warwick and Mal as well. We shall come back and discuss all details by next week.
  9. Milton/    Milton will submit a report on the SHM packaging & testing at ATNF, and distribute to everyone to look at.
  10. Mike/    Mike will specify the instruments needed for prototype site test, e.g. optical telescope, PC, TV camara & monitor, distant transmitter, etc.
  11. Tzi-da/Paul    Tzi-da & Paul will discuss offline on how to arrange the 2nd wafer run for CMO chips at CIC.
