  1. Huei mentioned he had some emails and phone communication with Stacey Bui of TRW about the InP HEMT foundry. Stacy expressed we need to apply more export licenses if we change the end user for TRW wafer, and she could not give us a firm answer about our question of planning to use a US partner to assemble and package chips and ship directly to Hawaii and sending the remaining to ASIAA. But she promised to check with the export compliance in TRW.Bob will call Stacey to explain our situation, and to figure out how to put an arrangement in place from RUCH or CMU.
  2. Jeff asked where to set up the cold test in Hawaii? Huei said Todd is willing to help us on wafer screening and cold testing at JPL. Bob said that we have a PhD student Robert Hu currently is working with Sandy Weinreb on W band amplifier to go with the mixer, he should finish in an other year, and we envision to involve him a long run to get in this testing and work on this project. Bob thinks this is the shortest way to get there.
  3. Milton confirmed his traveling schedule to AT, he will arrive Sydney on Aug. 11. During his stay at AT, he will study with Mal to package and test the w-band SHM, and discuss with Paul Robert and Warwick about the SiGe HBT multiplier. Milton also hope to test the Bosen's multiplier of WIN foundry and the 60GHz VCO chips at AT as well.Mal will talk to Russell and Henry to organize a program for Milton; he will also arrange somebody to pick up Milton at airport. Milton should inform Mal his flight schedule ASAP.
  4. Huei mentioned that he talked to Todd yesterday, and he is still waiting for Tom Prince coming back by early August. He will follow up and keep us informed. Fred suggests we had better to wait until Tom's back in order to make it clear for what is doable and what is not doable, and then decide how to go ahead.
  5. Mal will send the layout and block diagram of the cryogenic test set up on the package of w-band amplifier to Bob and Jeff to look at. Jeff will keep on asking Neil Erickson to give 10 pieces of w-band MMIC LNA for testing.

  1. Warwick mentioned as to the the "back-end" component - the CMOS output chip developed by Prof. Chiueh's team, he have been testing it and have found a number of problems. I hope to consult with Prof. Chiueh this week, on his return to Taiwan, to try to work out a solution. He will wrap up a test report and forward to Prof. Chiueh's team to look at.
  2. Regarding the IF amplifier which Warwick is looking for, Leo got a quote from Miteq; US$1K each. He will forward these specs and drawings to Warwick to look at. In the mean time, he will check whether it has sufficient gain and power output or not.
  3. Leo mentioned he would send the update power projection of receiver to Warwick to look at.
  4. Kos mentioned the testing on the new CMO chips is still ongoing.
  5. Jeff mentioned he is looking forward to hearing something back about the progress of assembly on this Friday, he will report us the status next week.

  1. Eugene just got the laser head mount to integrate the New Focus laser with optical fiber alignment set. He will start doing the measurement this week.
  2. Eugene will use the free running laser pair to check the frequency response of the photo mixer.
  3. Regarding the piezo electrical bias circuits, he just got a support from the Institute of Atomic Molecule Science of AS. They have an electronic shop, developing very high voltage bias circuits. Eugene got a detail schematic from them to produce the prototype bias circuits for piezo electrical crystal, and this will be used for phase modulator. Eugene tries to fabricate the circuits by summer student. This circuit is below 1KHz &100V.
