  1. Huei mentioned that Charles Lawrence has sent an email to Tom Prince - the chief scientist of JPL, explaining the background of AMiBA, our interest in collaboration with JPL on LNA design and fabrication, and the different opinion of NASA on this issue. Charles requested Tom for help, and now he is waiting for Tom's response. Huei will follow up and keep in touch with Lawrence as well.
  2. Huei received an e-mail from Sandy Weinreb confirming his consent to putting some of his design on our InP wafer run,but it has to be processed and exported under license by TRW or use in the US. Sandy also mentioned about at present they are testing on the Cryo6 wafer, and this will help to select which version of the W-band amplifiers we may want to use. Huei will keep in touch with Sandy to get the test result.
  3. Regarding the InP HEMT design, Huei will ask his student to modify it according Russell's comment and sent it back to AT this Friday latest.
  4. In order to finish the packaging and testing on sub-harmonic mixer on time, Huei,Mingtang and Eugene went over the BOM of mixer package prepared by Huei; they all agree to buy 5 blocks from Wise Wave (Wise Wave agreed not charge us the engineering set up fee). Eugene will prepare all drawings and purchase request document before leaving to States on this Saturday. Paul will help on accelerating the purchase process and release P.O. ASAP. As for the substrate, Eugene will transfer all technical data to Militech for pricing. Mal will check with Russell how many mixer chips available over there? What size of binding ribbon they are using? Mal will get answers back to Huei ASAP.
  5. Huei mentioned that if we could not sign the wafer run contract with TRW in this September, then we might not able to catch up TRW program of December

Lag Correlator Hybrid
  1. Warwick had some discussion with Jeff on the packaging devices for the prototype and how they make connection between lag correlator itself, and the backend CMO chips in the computer. They have a clear idea how to go for the prototype, and the idea is basically to malt each one of correlator packaged with couple of RF connector on it, and that will be just as a single correlator.Jeff received about 12 substrates, some of them had been broken during the initial test, but he still confident we can get 6 available through to the stage we can use them. Warwick thinks they can do a sort of layout as he proposed earlier. The other topic they discussed which was to do with the final AMiBA correlator, and how they put all correlators together and connect them all up to the final array, for the 19 antennas system. He thinks there still a lot of uncertainties; at least we had some discussions on that. They thought here now, and how they like to do, here is a question now, getting out and finding out whether we can do, exactly how we can do, which manufacturer can do for us, alike. That's the process they are going now, and Warwick says. As to the time scale, Jeff hopes to send a complete 17 lag correlator to AT in a couple of weeks, and currently he has only one substrate with three mixers mounted on them, that's what he is doing on the test at this moment, he want to fully populate one with mixers and diet, and then once he has done some initial test on it, he will send the prototype here, and start integrating, Warwick says. Warwick will talk to Jeff further more in early next week.
  2. Regarding the design modification on the Silicon Germanium, C.S. Lien will discuss with Paul Robert face to face when he visit AT in mid-Aug, Huei says.
  3. Huei has generated a paper on the GaAs chip design, he will put the names of Warwick and Paul Robert together on it, he will send a draft to Warwick to look at.
  4. Warwick get all testing fixture ready for the CMO chips designed by Ray, he will get test start ASAP.

Receiver
  1. West and Mingtang generate a package of drawings in PDF file for prototype, they have sent them out to everyone to look at. Mal had some comments; he will talk to Mingtang by offline this afternoon.
  2. Regarding the field range measurement, Mal will forward the expert's email address to us today.

IF/LO
  1. Eugene just got the laser head mount to integrate the New Focus laser with optical fiber alignment set. He will start doing the measurement this week.
  2. Eugene will use the free running laser pair to check the frequency response of the photo mixer.
  3. Regarding the piezo electrical bias circuits, he just got a support from the Institute of Atomic Molecule Science of AS. They have an electronic shop, developing very high voltage bias circuits. Eugene got a detail schematic from them to produce the prototype bias circuits for piezo electrical crystal, and this will be used for phase modulator. Eugene tries to fabricate the circuits by summer student. This circuit is below 1KHz &100V.

Site Acquisition
Bob has submitted the site acquisition document to the Hilo Obv people, and talked to them a little bit as well. And it seems quite positive at this moment, since Bob haven't seen anybody object caution on it. It may need two to three weeks to get their opinion back due to summer vocation. B. Martin Ongoing
