MMIC
  1. It's will be an added force to get JPL if collaborate with Caltech. Fred will talk to Tony Redhead further about the AMiBA-CBI connection in this weekend, and he think a small team go down to Chile to visit CBI site is necessary. Jeff says that he heard about DASI plans to go to 90 GHz this year for the polorization experiment, however they might not do this year because they are not completely funded. But we really need move fast, Fred says.
  2. Fred, Huei and Bob had a phone meeting with Todd Gaier and Charles Laurence on last Friday. Charles Laurence promised to bring up the collaboration issue on the MMIC to the new Chief Scientist of JPL, Huei will follow up and contact with Charles.
  3. Todd Gaier told Huei that the four LNA have been ready to loan us.
  4. Huei received Russell's comment on the InP HEMT design, Huei will ask student to modify it and sent the layout back to AT ASAP. Mal says that this mid-July is the dead line to finish its final design and send to TRW for foundry run.
  5. Regarding the sub-harmonic mixer packaging issue, now we got two quotations from New Wave and Chungshung Institute. Mingtang suggests that we should keep doing it in local, machining in Chungshung Institute, Huei's student C.S. Lien visiting AT to learn packaging & testing in this summer, and then after to do it by ourselves.Mal will check with Russell about when he can get all material ready for Lien's visit and back to Huei. An off-line meeting will be followed up to integrate all opinions and to figure out a way to go.
  6. Huei received a email from Paul Klintworth / TRW, Klintworth expressed TRW's InP MMIC's cannot be re-exported by ASIAA on TRW's license, without the proper re-export authorization from the U.S. dept. of States. He suggests us to contact the TECRO in Washington, D.C. for advice on how to obtain a re-export license. He also concerned about our intentions regarding design efforts, design participants and how it relates to the contemplated agreement, and he wish to have this information from us. Huei will follow up and talk to Fred after this meeting.

Lag Correlator Hybrid
  1. Jeff says they have two units assembled, and just start measurement on those units. He will get all mixer lag correlators ready and send to AT by courier before he visit there a week after from now. He will talk about the interface issue with Warwick, how the chips being connected with the large module in the final version of correlator. He will bring the measurement data with him, so AT can do their own measurement.
  2. Regarding the Silicon Germanium, CIC has reviewed and approved our design submission. We still have time to improve our design,Huei's student keep on discussing the layout with Paul Roberts by email.
  3. Regarding the suggested block diagram for the AMiBA prototype correlator, Jeff will go over it with Warwick when he visit AT in the first week of July.
  4. Warwick received data processing chips of Ray in the last week; he put them together into the board and starts to test them. He probably needs a couple of weeks to finish it.

Receiver
  1. West and Mingtang have generated a package of drawings in PDF file for prototype, they will circulate them to everyone to look at by email shortly.
  2. Mal had a long talk to the person in charge of the far field range testing and the near field range testing in AT last week. AT expert suggestion was to do the measurement in two steps, one will be do the main beam, the near inside lobes in the near field range, and then go to a 12 meters range to do the far side lobes. Mal will forward that expert's email address to us, so we can directly discuss with him.

IF/LO
  1. Eugene and West have finished the integration set to connect the laser output to the optical fiber. And the drawing is ready and will be sent to the machine shop for manufacturing.
  2. Eugene did some calculation on the phase switching accuracy between the different antennas. As for the 6 m long optical fiber with temperature variation along the fiber with 0.1¢J, the phase variation is about one degree and he thinks it is small enough, but he don't know whether it is accurate enough for operation or we need other final adjustment on the switch angle. He also made some measurements on the light wave spectrum analyzing module from Agilent, and the next step he will measure the re-noise on the New Focus laser and the IONAS fiber laser according the measurement result to update the calculation of the noise performance of the LO system. And this week, he will use the free running laser pair to check the frequency response of the photo mixer.
  3. As to the man-power for LO work, we got a master degree graduate from the Chung Yuen University, he will finish his military training and join with us in the beginning of next year.

Platform/Mount/Dishes
Platform, mount and large dishes are on hold at this moment, small dishes are deliverable in mid-July.

Computer control ,software
Suzy Jackson / sent Homing two interface test code programs for receiver control. Homing will base on that software to set up a simulation control system of receiver.
