MMIC
  1. Jeff had some phone discussions with John Weber, Todd Gaier, Sandy Wienreb and Neil Erickson, he will summarize all these and email to everybody by early next week. Jeff and Huei will check with Sandy whether Sandy can provide the Format GDS2 file of mask set. Huei will inform Mal by June 1about whether his student can work out a design layout and send it to AT for July foundry run.
  2. Jeff got a quote from J & E procession concerning the cost of blocks on the MMIC amplifier for the UMass, it is about $170USD each for gold plated box.He will forward that quote to Paul. Jeff will contact Neil to find out what material they used and how they mount the chips, he will send the J & E address to Mal as well. Mal will provide the company information of InP chips binding to Bob.
  3. Mal received GaAs mixer chips from Huei; Mal will arrange a testing on them.
  4. We got two sets of Foundry Service Sales Agreement for InP HBT and HEMT wafer fabrication from TRW; Paul will forward it to Bob and Mal to look at.
  5. Paul will contact Huei to find out whether his student can work out the InP chip design with AT mask by the end of this month.

Lag Correlator Hybrid
  1. Jeff says the substrates for the correlators will be shipped to him by this Friday, and then he will assemble and test them in a week or so. And he thinks they should be on time to get it done before the conference in Taipei, but they are two weeks delay on the delivery of those substrates.
  2. Regarding the Silicon Germanium, Paul Robert has sent off the design data to Huei's student last night.
  3. Ray have sent more detail date sheet of the CMOS output processing chips to Warwick, he will send the chips to Warwick ASAP. Ray introduces his schoolmate Kos Lin to everybody; Kos will take care of part of his work during his leave on military service. Warwick has one more question on chip; he will send an email to Ray.

Receiver
  1. Mingtang will forward Mal's report of beam pattern analysis on the small antenna to everybody to look at, and we will discuss it next week. Mal will work out a horn length combination sketch, and send it to Jeff to look at.
  2. Mal has sent a report of circular polarization phase shifter to Jeff and Mingtang by fax in last week; he will email a copy to everybody today.
  3. We got a quote of OMT from the Chungshang Institute; their price is cheaper than the commercial one. Mingtang suggests to let Chungshang make two of them; mainly is machining work, we will assembly and test them by ourselves. The lead-time of Chungshang is 90 days.
  4. Mal will get some specification on the far field range testing, and send it to Leo and Bob to look at. There are two possible places to do the far field range test for AMiBA receivers, AT and Mauna Kea site. Mal will investigate it with AT persons in charge.

IF/LO
  1. Eugene found there are some problems with the newly delivered controller and laser head; he will send those incorrect parts back to the manufacturer for repair and adjustment. He also received the Optical Laser System from Ionas, unpacking and checking on it for the time being. Based on the sub mm-wave experience, he thinks we can design a simple control circuit to control and to protect it, which including a current limitation and a thermal electrical cooler controller.
  2. Regarding the switching speed on photonic local oscillator, it depends on the piezo -electrical crystal frequency response. And according NRAO's experience, its operation frequency is limited in 3~5 KHz. That means we have to find a better correlator design with low noise. Otherwise we need to find other way to make the phase switch.
  3. Eugene is trying to figure out the feed back loop in three fiber cables, two cables send signal to each antenna, and use one cable to carry back the signal to the central unit for phase control in order to shorten the cable length from the central unit to each antenna. He will calculate the accuracy of this configuration, and compare with the original optical fiber configuration.

Platform/Mount/Dishes
Bob is working on a summary putting on all analysis together, what implication on the various mount, in the mean time we are trying to get more detail information on the quotation of the Sydney Engineering Co. Mike will bring that quotation to Taipei by early June. Bob will send a copy of Vertex report to Jeff to take a look.
