MMIC
  1. Leo will raise the purchase request for the first four HPF, he will continue clarifying the timing for placing the second order with the supplier
  2. Regarding the option issue for MMIC& MIC, we need to look at the MMIC schedule and when we can get the amplifier for AMiBA. If that could not work out, then we will make decision soon. Fred will check NRAO again, to see if they are willing to do the rest of MIC LNA. As for the MMIC path, we have now a wafer run schedule in forth quarter of this year. In order to guarantee to have something, we would probably to have to put on a wafer the latest proven design, it might be the AT one or U Mass one. And currently the U Mass design is doing pretty well, but it is hanging there mainly is because of AMiBA is not a US astronomy ground base, except possibly through Jeff connection to AMiBA. As for that goal, Fred asks Bob and Jeff call Bob Discman asking whom in the NSF can talk about this issue. We also need to find out whether the design is belong to Neal Erickson or Sandy. Fred and Huei explore the JPL connection and path. Bob and Jeff will go through the NSF to get that settle. The packaging issue we also need to keep in our mind, Fred will talk this issue to J. Weber as well. Bob & Jeff got to get the NSF path clear before May 18 when Huei meet Sandy.
  3. Eugene says that the Spacek will send back the mixer and amplifier to local agent next week, to replace the MMIC module, they ask for extra cost of $1KUSD. We should resolve this issue by off line.
  4. Bob will set up a separate meeting to go over all of the MMIC issue, which including the time scale for construction, what risk involved for the packaging, the price and so on.

Lag Correlator Hybrid
  1. egarding the phase switch, Leo got some quotations, it is around $1.5KUSD each, and so far he is not sure for how many units we need for prototype. He will talk this with Warwick further.
  2. Warwick says that they have been a bit look at other approach; one of them is the Silicon Gemanium. There is one company, they have a new silicon gemanium process coming up with 70GHz, and it probably is ok. And the pricing is if we order $20KUSD, and will get us 10 samples of circuit abroad the size we need for multipliers. It is something they should look into, it¦s a fairly small atelier to do the development in that area and see how we go. We probably get something back in 6 months or so. Warwick just starts talking with them now, and will sign a NDA with them very soon. Warwick will send that company information to Huei.
  3. Bob will set up a separate meeting with Jeff and Warwick to go over the correlator issues after Warwick back.
  4. Jeff is waiting for the delivery of the components for the prototype, and then he will take some time to assemble and test it. He plans to bring the mixer base correlator to the AMiBA 2001 conference in June for prototype testing. As for the interface and interaction with the backend processing system, Jeff and Ray should keep on talking with Warwick to ensure the whole correlator system integrated properly. Jeff will send a sketch of layout circuit of lag correlator to Ray and Mingtang to look at.
  5. Ray says he got 16 chips of backend processing IC; it should be enough for the prototype testing. As for the LNA, he will talk to Warwick further when he is here in Taipei next Thursday as well

Receiver
  1. Mingtang will raise a purchase request for two sets of feed horn, the supplier ¡V Thomas Keating in UK is the lowest quote from reliable sources. Price is 1,100 pounds for each, delivery in 9 to 11 weeks
  2. Mal will follow up to see if he can get a beam pattern analysis on the feed horn and antenna to see how accurate we can simulate the lens
  3. Regarding the modeling on the circular polarization, a Mal will send a report around to everyone to look.
  4. Mal has some comments on the system temperature calculation; Mingtang will check the testing data of LNA with NRAO person accordingly
  5. Regarding the NRAO OMT production,NRAO people is looking for another two possible shops to manufacture OMT in order to speed up the process. Bob will follow up to talk to NRAO people as well. Last week, we had a meeting with the Chungshang Institutepeople, Mingtang showed all of the drawings to them and tell them what we need from them. They agree to give us a quotation on OMT production.
  6. As to the overall configuration inside the dewar, Mingtang is thinking to use the SMART way to mount the entire receiver components. After that he will think about the warm horn configuration.
  7. Regarding the near field range measurement requirement for AMiBA antenna, Leo will tell Mal what they already have in Prof. Chu¦s lab, then Mal and AT expert will take a look, and get back to Leo and Mingtang about their suggestion.

IF/LO
  1. Eugene is thinking about the possibility to use the cable with two optical fiber inside, it will reduce the temperature difference influence.
  2. Regarding
the optical amplifier, Eugene is trying to calculate the system for the photonic LO without optical amplifier according the power level and noise level

Platform/Mount/Dishes
  1. Fred says that we need to consider having the 0.3m antennas surround the 1.2m antennas, and doing the correlation between 0.3m and 1.2m antennas. The advantage is that increasing the sensitivity perhaps. Ron has asked Ravi to study that more, and we also need to look into. Fred want to know is there any implication to platform. Bob will look at that in detail, he thinks it should be not a problem. Bob and Jeff will bring up this issue to the science team.
  2. As for the large dishes, Bob has given the drawings to Philippe and Paul; Paul will post them on web, so that everybody can take look. In the mean time,Bob will ask CMA to send a quotation on the large dish to Paul.
