MMIC
  1. Regarding the HPF purchasing issue, Leo says that Quinstar confirmed they are able to comply with our required specification. And they agree the price for the first 4 unite is $4,000USD, and for the rest of 36 units is $6,000USD. But as a condition, the second order should be placed within three months after the first order. Leo will continue discussing this issue with Bob and Paul, and decide what to do.
  2. Warwick says that to re-export the MMIC stuff from AT to IAA, they need to follow the standard US export control condition, so it¦s a matter going to be a authority rather than TRW if we want to export them. They have been contacting the US Councilor in Sydney, and got no response back yet, Warwick says.
  3. Regarding the possibility to use the JPL or U Mass¦ design, Fred will pursue on contacting Challis Lawrence to see what he do. As per Fred¦s request, Huei will arrange a telecon with Todd and Challis Lawrence to sort out this issue.
  4. Huei got a layout of w-band LNA from Neal Erickson/UMass and forwarded to Leo as well last week
  5. Leo says that a mixer and an amplifier had been sent back to Spacek for thorough adjustment
  6. Eugene says that the Chungshung Institute has tested the Sub-harmonic mixer, but the result is much worse than the test result of AT. Eugene will follow up and sort out this problem with Chungshung Institute. Mal will help Eugene to finalize the packaging design ASAP.
  7. Fred suggests to set up a separate meeting to go over all of the MMIC issue, which including the time scale for construction, what risk involved for the packaging, the price and so on.

Lag Correlator Hybrid
  1. Warwick says that the low frequency noise problem of the InP HBT mulplifier is still there, and he is thinking about using the phase switch, but haven¦t got any result yet. Warwick wonder if we use that multiplier with low frequency noise, and need phase switch to 500KHz, can be the non-photonic LO system handle that ? This is a fundamental question, we need to think about.Fred reminds everyone that if we try to use the InP HBT multiplier, then we may switch very high frequency and impact number of things, such as : Whether the LO can handle it? The LO redundant electronic, and so on. That is something Eugene need to figure out, and Fred suggests Eugene to talk to John Payne, and to see what the limitation is.
  2. Fred asks Bob to set up a separate meeting with Jeff and Warwick to go over what to do with the correlator
  3. Regarding the GaAs HBT chip from WIN, Paul Robert has made some measurement on that chip. Huei will send more chips together with the DC condition to Paul to test.
  4. Warwick received a layout of mixer based lag correlator from Jeff, and have been talking with him by email as well. And it is proceeding quite well. In the mean, Warwick will investigate on the other options.

Receiver
  1. Regarding § worm horn concept¨ & §30cm horn-leans antenna concept¨ which proposed by Jeff, Bob suggests Mingtang and Mal look carefully into feed-horn design and make recommendation what we should do. Jeff suggests to make a extension for one of Mingtang¦s feed horn design, and just testing on it and let comparison to the cassagrin which for prototype, and make decision for us. Mal thinkthe other important issue is the cost.Jeff will get a quote on the 30cm horn-lens, and figure out its weight as well.
  2. Regarding the modeling on the circular polarization, a Mal will send a report around to everyone to look.
  3. Regarding the calculation program for the whole system, Mingtang and Leo will take care of it and work out something for Bob. Mal will also provide a calculation table.
  4. Mike sent around a calculation data for pin pattern according
the current design, and also posted on web site.
  5. A small group people of the Chungshung Institute will come to IAA by next week to discuss the antenna and the Sub-harmonic issue.

IF/LO
  1. Regarding the over-order fiber laser system, Warwick will directly<br>
contact the supplier to buy it.
  2. Eugene will propose an alternative for the optical fiber.
  3. Regarding the optical amplifier, Eugene says it is very difficult to find the required amplifier from any company, so he plans to add some gain on the LO amplifier in the individual module on the receive side and drop out the optical amplifier, and then see what effect on the LO phase noise and the performance of power level, he will discuss this issue with John as well.
  4. Eugene says that Leo proposed to buy two pieces of frequency triple as a back up for the LO source, and its unit price is $3.000USD, and we only need two pieces. Mingtang says that he has talked with T.H. about a possible alternative to the prototype oscillator source, and T.H. has already had a LO operating at 14 GHz with a tripler in his lab.Bob asks Eugene to summarize together what cost would be and time scale for the whole photonic LO system

Platform/Mount/Dishes
  1. Bob says that he had some phone meeting with Vertex, he thinks Vertex should work out a quotation in mid April by verbal and in end April by writting. Bob thinks if they can deliver and have something there in this winter, then would be not a lot of reason to build a mount for test platform.
  2. Bob will talked to the dish maker ¡V CMA on this Friday to go over the program, and he think the two small dishes will be delivered by mid May. Now he is thinking how we check the accuracy, and start looking for a measuring firm. And another check we probably should do is the antenna range, he thinks this will be a good question for AT people, is there any range we can use or suggest something. There are two alternatives, one is in AT and the other one in Prof. Chu¦s Lab, Mingtang says, but at this moment he is not sure how well the Prof. Lab¦ lab equipped for our job. Leo will investigate the lab accordingly.
  3. As for the platform design, Bob says that now he got a better idea
about that, and Kingsley and he start iterating with the platform design.
  4. Fred says that we need to consider having the 0.3m antennas surround the 1.2m antennas, and doing the correlation between 0.3m and 1.2m antennas. The advantage is that increasing the sensitivity perhaps. Ron has asked Ravi to study that more, and we also need to look into. Fred want to know is there any implication to platform. Bob will look at that in detail, he thinks it should be not a problem
  5. As for the large dishes, he will collect drawings and send them
    around to everyone to look.

Computer control ,software
Fred says that it should be a concern about there is no duplication efforts bending the wheel. Honmin should learn more from Mike.
Test plan
Mike has generated a test plan for prototype and circulated to everyone to look, we will discuss it in the next meeting. All Action item
MoE Site Visit
The MoE delegation will visit AMiBA/CosPA site on April
27, basically this will be a whole day visit, and in the morning will make
presentation for whole CosPA, and it may take 1.5 hours for AMiBA. So everybody
aught set up that date assigned and make sure you can attend that presentation
in the morning.Fred and Paul will think about what to do, and basically
we need to show as much hard work as possible, that something people need
to think about, e.g. showing the lab, and showing what we have. Paul will
send a detail program around to everyone.
